About PRP Joint Injections

Joint Injections (PRP) – Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) joint injections utilize a concentrated preparation of the patient’s own platelets and growth factors to support tissue repair, modulate inflammation, and improve joint function. Commonly used in areas such as the knee, shoulder, and hip, PRP therapy is a minimally invasive, non-surgical option aimed at reducing pain and supporting recovery, helping patients return to normal movement and activity more efficiently.

Understanding PRP Injections

PRP is natural. It is taken from the patients own blood to regenerate skin, nerves, blood vessels, and accelerate tissue repair. The treatment begins, by drawing blood from the patient which is then spun in a specialized centrifuge. This process separates the blood from the plasma and platelets. The Plasma that is concentrated with platelets is injected back into the tissues.

Once injected the platelets release growth factors which stimulate stems cells in the tissue to create new tissue which is more youthful. All the old and damaged tissue is renewed again. There is not much downtime with the procedure, and typically not much discomfort with the use of anesthesia. There is no risk for reaction or rejection since the procedure utilizes your own blood.

PRP Injections Offered in nOVI MICHIGAN:

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous biologic derived from a patient’s own blood that contains a concentrated level of platelets, growth factors, and signaling proteins known to support tissue repair. In musculoskeletal applications, PRP is used as a form of regenerative therapy to help address joint-related conditions by promoting healing within cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and surrounding soft tissue.

When PRP is injected directly into a joint space or targeted tissue, it initiates a localized healing response by releasing growth factors that help modulate inflammation and support cellular repair. This process may enhance the body’s natural ability to restore damaged tissue, improve joint function, and reduce discomfort over time.

PRP therapy is commonly used to support joint health in areas such as the knee, shoulder, and hip, particularly in cases of overuse, degeneration, or mild to moderate injury.
